So I Am Different, So What

"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work."
1 Corinthians 12:4-6

"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts from one body, so it is with Christ."
1 Corinthians 12:12

You know at times I think life would be easier if we were all the same, but what a bore that would be!  And then I think about it, if we were all the same, then there would be jobs that need to be done and no one to do them.  Thank God we are different!

But that is not where I am going with this today.  I am different!  I am a lesbian.  I won't change, and that makes me different then most in the Church.  They are for the most part straight.  Yet that don't mean that we don't serve the same God, just means I like the same sex and they don't.

"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them"
Genesis 1:27

Here we read we were all created in God's image and that means even me!  Being different is a good thing!  So some of us are straight, some of us are gay, but all of us are created in God's image.  We are different but God is different in the fact He has different aspects.

You might be wondering what I mean by that.  Well, God is in three parts as it is.  He is God the Father, God the Son in Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.  Talk about different aspects!

So the children of God, we come in different aspects too!  Though we are part of the same body, we are all different.  And we are all needed in the body!

Some people are butts, some are mouthy, others are handy, and some are the brains, but all part of God's body of children!  We just have different roles to play!

So next time you feel you are too different to be in God's family cause you are gay or some other reason, remember you are still part of the family and important!
